I grew up in the small town of Ukiah exploring the countryside, swimming in ponds, and riding dirt bikes. Although this type of environment does not place emphasis on education, I have always had a passion for learning. From a young age, I loved and excelled in my math classes, always helping my peers with their homework. My formal tutoring experience began in high school when I traded geometry lessons for guitar lessons with an excellent musician who struggled in math. I found that the satisfaction I get from my own learning could also be achieved by helping others learn.

After graduating from Ukiah High School, I enrolled in the University of California, Santa Barbara as a math major. After many changes I eventually landed on a biochemistry major, continuing to tutor informally in chemistry, organic chemistry, algebra, geometry and pre-calculus. After graduation I moved to the Bay Area to begin my professional tutoring career.

My teaching philosophy is that education should be centered around the student. Everyone learns in a unique fashion; it is best to cater the explanation, the speed and the order of topics directly to the individual. It is impossible to do this in a classroom setting, one of the main reasons why private tutoring is so valuable. I believe that any question a student can think of is always worth the extra time. Although test scores are of the utmost importance, we must not forget that the ultimate goal of education is learning. A true thirst for knowledge goes much further than a single high grade.

In my free time I like to either travel the world or play video games - two polar opposite but similarly fun activities. Feel free to ask me about my games or my travels if you are curious!
