Aaron’s professional tutoring career began in 2017 after graduating from UC Davis with high honors. Since then, he has accumulated over 4,000 hours of primarily 1-on-1 instruction, though he has also taught SAT and ACT classes at local high schools. Aaron quickly earned a reputation for high-level, analytic test preparation and became a go-to recommendation for students looking to break score barriers. He has written mock exams and materials, trained groups of new tutors, and connected hundreds of parents with the right tutor for their child. Aaron also has extensive experience tutoring English, writing, AP seminar, political science, philosophy, logic, and the GRE exam.
Aaron has a conversational instruction style, using short drills and homework for concept application. By tutoring through dialogue, students have ample comfort and opportunity to voice doubts, participate in solutions, or simply let Aaron know they’ve spaced out for the last two minutes and need to review. Such a style also allows Aaron to meet students at their level of need by constantly checking-in on their understanding and ability to explain concepts back to him. Finally, conversational tutoring helps tutors and students gain the rapport they need to maximize their time together.
Growing up in Ukiah, CA, Aaron’s passions were skateboarding and sports, of which he played four. The Mendocino countryside and coast along with summer trips with his parents and sisters to Yosemite cemented a love of the outdoors and nature’s spectacular beauty. Ever distracted by the world around him, it wasn’t until college that academics and learning truly overtook Aaron’s darting attention. Upon working with the fantastic educators there, he realized such teachers had been around him his whole life, imparting knowledge to an admittedly passive pupil. Aaron hopes to emulate these educators, capable of meeting students where they are even if they aren’t aware of it.
Aaron spends his time rooting for Bay Area sports teams and for his golf ball to find the fairway. He also likes to cook, travel, and read about viticulture and oenology.
