Geometry and Trigonometry
Everyone learns in different ways, and Geometry can pose significant problems for students with spatial reasoning deficits. By ensuring there are no existing content gaps, and by placing an emphasis on conceptual understanding, we can effectively help students develop a deeper understanding of content in the course.
AP AB/BC Calculus
Calculus can be difficult even for students who previously thrived in math. This is a really difficult subject, but you’re not alone! It may not seem like it now, but this is when math starts getting fun! The applications of calculus are all around us, and by relating content to the real world, we can help students intuitively understand the concepts, promoting generalization, helping students thrive on test and quizzes and eventually the AP AB/BC Calculus exam!

We believe that success in math is more than just memorizing steps and cramming for exams. Mathematics is the language of science and nature and is truly elegant if understood intuitively. By focusing on the ‘Why’ behind the steps in math we can foster a deeper understanding in not just the content, but the world as a whole. This leads to success in math that cannot be measured by grades alone. Conceptual understand of mathematics helps promote generalization, which in turn leads to success on exams such as the AP Calculus tests , the SAT, and the ACT. Furthermore, this approach helps students retain the concepts learned year over year. As Mathematics builds upon itself content gaps can be problematic for Bay Area students with rigorous course work. By focusing on the concepts, we can help student build a strong foundation to build upon in the future!
